【Tama-motteke】

Tama-motteke is a monster of a Ramune bottle that has been abandoned by a child who gave up on trying to take out the glass bead inside of the bottle. (Ramune is a Japanese soda that usually comes in a unique glass bottle containing a small glass bead that can be taken out if you’re persistent.) Tama-motteke feels nauseous from the glass bead inside its body and thus crawls towards human beings, demanding that the bead be taken away.

【Dohdoh-meguri】

Dohdoh-meguri usually appear in a pair in an underground dungeon. They give misleading directions to a person, forcing the person to take various routes, and become smugly satisfied seeing the person's exhausted face.

【Karasu-guchi】

Karasu-guchi was once a ruling pen that transformed into a creature after becoming obsolete. It ruins papers with ink by drawing lines and circles on them. A ruling pen is a special utensil for technical drawings, but due to the digitization in recent years and the introduction of pens that are easier to use, ruling pens have become less used by people. In Japan, Karasu-guchi is often depicted in the form of a raven. In China, however, it is shown in the form of a duck.

【Ōhyakko】

Ōhyakko is an insect monster that perpetually rolls its body around. Have you ever felt unreasonable fear right before stepping on an escalator and become unable to move any further? That happens because you're actually stepping on the back of an Ōhyakko and not an escalator. It is said that Ōhyakko will fall asleep if you press the red bump on the side of its stomach. When you step on top of a sleeping Ōhyakko, you usually experience a sudden floating sensation, but that is due to the toxins emitted from Ōhyakko. These toxins have the effect of confusing people.

【Shikemokuren】

A collection of burning cigarettes have transformed into an evil dragon named Shikemokuren. Its body is wrapped in scorching heat, and the smoke that spews out of its mouth is venomous. Places that Shikemokuren passes through go up in flames. Especially, the cigarettes that have been discarded in a mountain easily transform into Shikemokuren, causing mountain fires and completely burning down the area in no time. Shikemokuren always has bloodshot eyes and an insatiable appetite for nicotine. One legend says that people vanquished Shikemokuren after feeding it with an excessive amount of cigarettes and causing it to have dizziness.

【Magatsu-inu】

Whenever a disaster happens, a pack of Magatsu-inu appears out of nowhere. People fear the sight and the resonating sounds coming from Magatsu-inu as they howl from places high above, but they are actually doing so to let everyone know that disaster is occurring.

【Kashitsu-ki】【Joshitsu-ki】

Kashitsu-ki and Joshitsu-ki are humidifier and dehumidifier (respectively) that have turned into demons. They hate each other, and they are always fighting, with one spreading moist air and the other blowing dry air. A person getting caught in the crossfire will end up with ruined skin.

【Fuyofuyo】

Fuyofuyo is a monster of a balloon. Depending on the region, stories of Fuyofuyo in various forms have been passed down, including a ball, snake, and dog. Sometimes, it is seen caught in a tree branch, but if you fall for its adorable exterior and grasp it, you'll be abducted into the sky to float with it for all eternity. When you approach it with a sharp object, it emits air from its buttocks and runs away at an incredible speed. They will not disappear even if you collect four of them in the same colors like that particular video game with a similar name.

【Ishūzame】

Ishūzame is a monster of an old clothing iron. It became an iron shark that swims through the ocean of garments, blowing steam from its gills. Its stomach is extremely hot, and the garments it glides over become ruined, with some turning brown from the burn or getting completely wrinkled.

【Hyakusao-dansu】

Hyakusao-dansu is a monster of a chest of drawers that became bloated from excessive storage of unworn clothes, secretly saved cash, mothballs, and other matters inside of it. To devour more "calories," Hyakusao-dansu demands humans to put more money and clothes inside it. If anyone refuses to do so, Hyakusao-dansu will try to crush the person with its hefty body that feels as heavy as a hundred chests of drawers.

【Akasuzu】

Being stared at by Akasuzu's red eyes can mesmerize a person, and the person will experience an acute urge to press the button located in its mouth, but once they do so, it'll cause huge trouble. Therefore, people must not press the button on its mouth other than in a time of emergency.

【Douketsu-mujina】

Douketsu-mujina appears in the mountains. It's a pitiful creature with the heads of four animals that people have become confused with one or the other in recent years. It's very cunning and eats a lot. The four heads often fight each other. When it crosses paths with a human, it asks the person which head belongs to what animal. If the person cannot give the correct answer, the person becomes Douketsu-mujina's meal.

【Kamiarashi】

Kamiarashi is a monster of a brush that pulls away a whole bunch of hair off of people's heads. It's the enemy of men. Kamiarashi devours the hair it pulls out to grow new quills.

【Shaboro-oni】【Enpi-oni】

Shaboro-oni is a demon of a big shovel. Enpi-oni is a demon of a trowel. They make a mess by digging the soil up. They are the enemy of gardening.

【Enhasyori】

Enhasyori is a monster of an old flip phone. It got broken by being folded in half the opposite way when it got caught in a fight between lovers who became close through e-mail correspondence. Perhaps it is a coincidence that it looks like an "aiai-gasa." (Aiai-gasa is a Japanese word referring to an umbrella shared by lovers.) While Enhasyori can allow people to have relationships with more concise, abridged communication, if people allow themselves to be coaxed by Enhasyori's words, they will become victims of its malignant electronic waves that destroy relationships.

【Kuchi-ōi】

Kuchi-ōi is a spirit of surgical mask that has been abandoned on the streets. (Masks weren't thrown away on the streets before. A reflection of our era, isn't it?) Despite its original purpose of protecting humans from airborne pollution, people started to regard it as a dirty piece of trash once it fell onto the ground. Kuchi-ōi holds a grudge against the human being who dropped it and has a plan to find that person, then covering their mouth or slapping their face with its soiled surface.

【Deamon-san】

Its formal name is Mailer-Deamon. It is a Western electronic monster. It appears from time to time when people send emails, and it politely reports what happened to their messages to the senders. However, it is shrewd and opportunistic because it eats the emails that never reach the intended recipients. Originally, Mailer-Deamon was a protective god of emails. But because of the confusing spelling of its name, people mistakenly interpreted it to be a demon, resulting in its depiction with a black goat's head.

【Nabeushi】

Nabeushi is what became of a person whose body and life have melted away after being sucked into a kotatsu. (Kotatsu is a table with an electric heater with a quilt to retain the heat.) Once you become entrapped by Nabeushi, you feel warm and extremely comfortable and become a part of Naebushi's body until the winter passes. The name Nabeushi is a wordplay using 蝸牛 (katatsumuri, "snail" in English) and 鍋 (nabe, "hot pot" in English), which is a seasonal delicacy during winter. In Japanese, one proverb goes, "If you sleep right after eating, you'll become a cow." There is a theory that the "cow" (牛) in this saying references Nabeushi.
